Genetic Sequencing for Inherited Vascular Disease

Dr. Gupta sees patients with inherited cardiovascular disorders in the Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He helps guide genetic testing for all cardiovascular conditions. Dr. Gupta has a specific interest in genetic disorders that affect blood vessels, and specializes in the management of genetic risk for coronary artery disease, heart attack, aortic aneurysms, and other vascular abnormalities.

In addition to genetic testing and clinical care, Dr. Gupta has active research studies for patients and families with a possible genetic mutation causing a cardiovascular disorder. The Gupta Lab performs Whole Exome Sequencing and Whole Genome Sequencing for patients to help identify new causes of aneurysms. These research studies seek to expand our knowledge about how genetic mutations affect blood vessels, and can eventually lead to better therapies.

Clinical Research Studies Currently Enrolling Patients
  1. Genetic testing for families with Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm
  2. Genetic testing for individuals with Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and no traditional risk factors
  3. Single cell RNA-sequencing of vascular tissue
  4. Genetic testing for patients and families with Cerebral Cavernous Malformations
